![]() ![]() World Link is a volunteer not-for-profit organization whose purpose is to link resources in providing support to the poor. World Link has combined efforts with AIDguatemala for an emergency fund raising campaign for the villagers whose lives have been devastated by the recent flooding and mud slides in the Lake Atitlán area of Guatemala. Our role is to accept funds, identify NGO's that we think are most effective in the area, disbursing of funds through them to the villagers, evaluating their work, and providing accountability to the donors. 100% of the money donated to World Link goes directly to project support, and we have selected NGO's who also provide 100% of the donation directly to the relief effort. The advantage of working through World Link is that of accountability to the donor, and the evaluation of the NGO's who provide the support. The two NGO's we will be distributing funding through are small local volunteer agencies who are working and have worked closely with the villagers in the area. We prefer to work with small on-site NGO's because they are well connected with the villagers, know the needs, and have established trust of the people. Also, as mentioned, there are no deductions for overhead . The Doctor Louis Foundation of Guatemala's mission is to help indigenous people of Lake Atitlán who are in crisis. They provide food, medical care, housing, potable water and other critical needs, particularly during a time of crisis. They are also working to establish a medical clinic in Santa Catarina Polopó. The Mayor of Santa Catarina, Mayor Roberto Lopez, with whom they are working, is willing to personally write a letter to all corporations or substantial donors who wish to be acknowledged for their donation on behalf of the people of Santa Catarina. The Friends of Santa Cruz's (Amigos de Santa Cruz) goal is to raise funds and provide support for the indigenous people of Santa Cruz. They provide support for education, health, and sustainable development. |
